ECMAScript 4

After spending years iterating on a version 4, the standards body ECMA moved on from its feature set in favor of a leaner and more stable version of ECMAScript, on which JavaScript is based. It represented a departure from earlier thinking on the language’s development, but also set a course for more rapid iteration in the future.
